Sexual Wellness
Sexual Wellness is an understanding of one's own sexuality and the ability to make informed choices about sexual behaviour. It encompasses knowledge of anatomy, reproduction, sexually transmitted infections (STIs), consent, and healthy relationships. Sexually transmitted infections (STIs) are infections that are typically spread through sexual contact. This includes vaginal, anal, and oral sex. STDs can be caused by bacteria, viruses, or parasites. Common STDs include chlamydia, gonorrhoea, syphilis, human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), Hepatitis B & C and human papillomavirus (HPV). Many STDs can be asymptomatic, meaning they may not cause any noticeable symptoms. However, left untreated, they can lead to serious health complications, such as infertility, pelvic inflammatory disease, and even death.
